June 9th - July 9th


Information:
The opening game will be probably be played on the 9th of June at the Stadion München in München. The final will be probably be played a month later in Berlin's Olympiastadion.

Qualifying:
The 204 Fifa countries will play qualifying matches for a place amongst the 32 teams in the tournament. The draw for the qualifying will be held in Frankfurt on December 5th 2003. Taken from FIFA.com:

"The draw covers qualifying in five of the six confederations: AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), CONCACAF (North and Central America), UEFA (Europe) and OFC (Oceania and Australia). As always, the nations of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) will compete in a single group for places in the finals."

The Tournament:
After the qualifying has finished all the qualified teams will be drawn into groups for the World Cup itself. This draw will take place in Leipzig on December 10 and 11 2005. As usual the the teams will be drawn into groups of 4 where to top 2 qualify for the round of sixteen, followed by quarter and semi finals.
